[Scam Exposed] dirty dricks & more ~

SCAM EXPOSED

Scammers.. What the hell are scammers?

Scammers are stupid lifeless people that are desperated because they are in lack of items, money and equipment, what makes them start thinking that scamming is the only way to get those things they want.
They are using someone's trust and start with stealing people's possession.

Please everyone shall take care not to fall into any traps.

Scammers have many tricks how they can scam easy naive and even careful people.

How they scam?

: Here their dirty tricks :

Normal Scamming

There are always groups of people that doesn't know anything about scammers when they start playing a game like Tales Of Pirates.
If someone for example starts new and is beeing asked to give someone his stuff for any reason, that person might give the scammer his stuff without thinking that he won't get his things ever again.
This is the simple way of scamming.
Asking newbies for their equipment and money - and never give them back again.

Scammed by Friends

They try to get someones trust first. Act for some time like a good friend. Is always helpful and is giving away items he maybe doesn't need, to let the others think that he's a good person who tries to help others.
But when that scammer thinks that he did enough to get someone's trust he will start to scamm his innocent not-bad-about-him-thinking friends.
If something like that happens people start doubting fast even about other friends since they though that the scammer was a friend but at the end he turned out as an evil person.

Fake Chars

A few Scammers totally use the fact that you can write kinda the "same" nickname with other numbers or letters.
So they are creating fake chars that are supposed to be a good copy to an original person's char.
The best example is if a charname has a capital "o" and the scammer make a char that looks like him but instead the capital "o" he uses the number zerso: 0 for it. O/0 its hard to see the diffrence. This faking of letters can also be done with a small L and a capital i and the number 1 (one).
The easiest way to let the innocent person believe this trick, is when the scammer is placing his fake char near the original character, that might be afk, then he is pm-ing the person he wants to scamm and is asking him for example for his wings, fairy or money and is trading him - and not letting the person to trade the real character who's near.
Like this many people allready got scammed because this was for most  a new trick to scamm.

Actually there is also another way how to use a "fake char". Make a new char, name it simiular to a excisting char. Go to that people's friends and tell them that it's him.

In that example you can see how someone tried to scam me like that. But i was careful with it.

Fake Guilds

Once scammers are using fake chars they also might start creating fake guilds with the real name of a guild but are leaving a space so that there are at the end two guilds with the same name.
Sure it's hard to know the real guild then, if you're not in the same guild and can't talk in guild channel with that person as a proof.
But like that the scammer is trying to let people believe that he isn't a fake char but the real person who is even in the guild that real person is supposed to be.

Hacker Sites

What to say.. Scammers are sending pages to everyone and tell them they can buy cheep things or win IMPs or whatever if they login there.
Actually keylogger-sites.. And with the next login the person who logged at that fake-TOP-page he'll get the surprise of seeing all his equips are gone.

Here someone was writing on world first that he was selling cheap unique gems. After pm-ing him he was telling that he won these unique gems trough an event and send me and few other people a side were we shall register.

Whoever register there was naive again. There will never be any ways for winning things if IGG doesn't announce that at least in TOP news. So better take care  of fake links.

Fake Items

People are sometimes stalling fake items like no real Wings or fake Timeless Machines etc.
Often new people are beeing tricked by these kinds of trades.
Sure you might say this isn't really scamming since the buyer accepts this trade.
But anyway that seller kinda tricked him and scammed like that the buyer's money.

It also happens that a person is stalling a high level fairy and if a person wants to buy it he trades him and put first the real high level fairy in. Cancells the trade, trades him again and is putting a same looking fairy with lower level in to trick the buyer, since he thinks that he is paying for a high level fairy.
After trading he just notices that the seller tricked him and scammed him like that.

Account Seller

Often people are selling accounts, are asking for ingame money but sometimes also for real money.
With buying an account theres always a high rate with getting scammed:
- you might not even get an account if you allready payed for it and the seller is gone
- if you can't change or forgets to change the e-mail, you're putting all your equips on that char and suddenly with your next login you see that the password of that account was sadly changed.

Best way to protect: Never buy accounts. Is it fun to buy an account with high level chars etc? Not doing anything for it shows that people are lazy and can't make it alone to get that chars.

Own Experience

I had a few experience" onclick="tagshow(event)" class="t_tag">experience with scammers too.
I don't really want to list all.
But the one that kinda most shocked me.

Once one of our old guild leader got hacked and noone knew it.
That hacker logged in with her char and tried to scam many guild members and get them hacked since that person was sending us hacker-sites.
Noone expected that our guild-member was hacked and that the hacker was now on with her char.
With that a few other members got hacked too...
I actually had a chat with that person and saved it because i directly noticed that it wasn't the real person, because he couldn't answer my question i asked to get a proof, if it's really her or not.

Here the chat:

*HACKER*:
hey
TigerDRena:
hey
*HACKER*:
i win bd torso on prize box event!! lol
TigerDRena:
x___X wooot wow rly?!
*HACKER*:
you checked your prize box??
TigerDRena:
omg x_X gratz! what prize box?
*HACKER*:

*HACKER*:
go here you will see prize box on left side
TigerDRena:
ur real holi?
*HACKER*:
yes lol
TigerDRena:
what did u sell me once? tell me an i know its rly u

This was how the conversation ended.
After that i was really shocked. You think you have the real person in front of you and would've never expected that it wasn't him/her but someone who hacked that account...

Actually it's hard these times to protect yourself against scammers.
But if you're careful enough, you won't get scammed.

So everyone just take care a lot. and dont get scammed or dont try to scam other people.

And enjoy this game!

Yours,

Rena
